SLOW CULTURE - Idle Motion (Single)
A truly amazing inner west, alternative, ambient style psych rock band. Give em a listen, absolutely stunning! More information on Slow Culture below:
Slow Culture's eponymous debut EP is awash in rich, ambient tones and captivating melodies. Juxtaposing the complexities of jazz, the hypnotic rhythms of psychedelia and the effective simplicity of alternative rock, the Sydney four-piece have poured an ocean of imagination into their debut, resulting in four majestically idiosyncratic songs.
Engineered by Richard Lake and mixed by Steve James, the EP is as sonically textured as it is meticulously written. The delicacy of the band's nuances are captured and presented perfectly in balance with their outright intensity. Able to switch directions in a heartbeat, each track feels like a world unto itself – travelling without boundaries or artistic restrictions. Layering lavish, reverb-soaked vocals atop sophisticated beats, every track has unshakable foundations, around which the band paint texture upon texture.
Opening to the sound of chatter and eerie synths, ‘Idle Motion’ is the first taste of the bands forthcoming EP. An infectious vocal melody and a relentless groove blend with the instrumentation, paving the way as the song displays the bands elegance and unfiltered energy. Unafraid of treading new ground, ‘Idle Motion’ takes the band to new heights.
Boasting songs that are creatively unshackled and artistically stirring, Slow Culture's debut is a striking first step towards greatness. Evolving as most young bands do – undergoing several name changes and lineups – Slow Culture have transcended their infancy to a stagger conclusion.
